Out of the River (feat. Sheila Ellis)
“We always crawl out of the river. We always lay down to breathe.
We always look out on tomorrow. That’s why we can never leave.”

This is our take on the Mahavishnu Orchestra classic from 1974. The original is broad sweeping and cinematic with lush orchestration and almost classical soprano vocals. It’s beautiful but obviously we needed to do things a little differently. Featuring singer: Sheila Ellis and a host of other talented people all coming together to help me realize my crazy dream!
Recorded in 1991-92, this Treetops EP was a breakthrough release for me. It was my first recorded foray into jazz and came at a time of profound personal upheaval. It was a needed gateway into a new life and a testament to the spirit of friendship. Originally released on tape cassette only, this is the first time it’s been made available in a great many years.
